El Hijo del Rubio is a restaurant that comes from a family tradition, which pampers each client to feel at home. This establishment began its journey around 1980, when Inocencio with his wife Fina begin to provide meals in the old "Casa del Mar". Gradually, they incorporated their children in the family business working side by side. In 2006, Antonio Hernandez, the eldest son of "El Rubio", which is what is commonly called Inocencio, opened his own restaurant with his wife Julia. This establishment is called "El Hijo del Rubio “and in it, we try to continue the family tradition begun in 1980, collecting the experience of years in the relationship with customers, and the excellence at cook. Everyone who visit our restaurant can enjoy the high quality of our fish and shellfish, which are known throughout the Mar Menor, but above all by its specialty in “caldero” rice, a typical meal of the Mar Menor which is made as before, when fishermen were out to fish in the sea several days without being able to carry on board more than rice, some spices and fish they pulled from the sea.
